The Jesus Wife Myth

We have all but official confirmation of what seemingly “most” people other than Karen King, Harvard, Dan Brown (just guessing), and “liberal” Christians hoped to see; namely, the papyrus purporting to claim Jesus had a wife is, indeed, a fabrication.

New Testament scholar Mark Goodacre has the summary of events with commentary at his blog.

“The Owner of the Gospel of Jesus’ Wife is Unmasked.”

“Gospel of Jesus’ Wife: Last Chapter Round-Up”

Certainly scholars are just as susceptible to fraud and hoax as anyone else, but one does have to question Dr. King’s scholastic integrity as a result of this episode as well as Harvard’s, all the more so for not retracting the “Jesus’ Wife” paper or publishing a follow up piece.
